A group of students from the ESCP Business School's -bachelor’s in management- have developed in collaboration with DIRSE a digital applications’ map focused on sustainability at an international level.

ESCP Business School, founded in 1819, is the oldest business school in the world. It has campuses in several cities around the world -Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin, Turin and Warsaw- and also collaborates with DIRSE - the Spanish Association of Social Responsibility Managers and member of the EASP.

DIRSE has supported the ESCP Business School in carrying out their Junior Consultancy Project conducted by a multinational group of its students.  This work of DIRSE’s interest, wanted to bring CSR closer to youth. This is the main reason why the authors (Étienne D'Arche, Liza Goldzahl, Nicolas Hoeps and Nicole Maiett), coordinated by Alberto Andreu on behalf of DIRSE and by Alejandro Ruiz on behalf of ESCP, decided to focus on the digital environment, where young people spend most of their leisure time or even use to study and work.

The app’s report responds to the need for managers to identify the most relevant sustainability criteria for consumers and which, therefore, will dictate the markets in the future. The apps coming from various sectors aims to identify a greater number of aspects to be considered.

This mapping exercise of the main "sustainable" apps at an international level resulted in the location of more than 20 applications that covered functions as diverse as locating sustainable fashion brands, controlling our home’s the temperature, scanning the composition of a product through its labelling, personal finances and credit cards support, investing responsibly guiding, knowing the ingredients of a personal care product or guiding on crowdfunding, among others.

In this way, four categories can be found in the classification of all these digital applications:

  • Environmental Applications
  • Financial Applications
  • Health Applications
  • Social Applications
