This webinar, co-hosted by CSR Manager Network and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, highlights the business case for water, including rising investor interest in water and important opportunities connected to water, demonstrate concrete actions for business leaders to take, and highlight company best practice in fields such as water stewardship, natural infrastructure, water-smart agriculture, access to water, sanitation and hygiene, and circular water management.

WBCSD speakers:
Tatiana Fedotova, Director, Water, World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Sara Traubel, Manager, Water, World Business Council for Sustainable Development

Business depends on water, and competition for water will get worse. According to the World Bank, within the next three decades the global food system will require between 40 - 50% more water; municipal and industrial water demand will increase by 50 - 70% and water demand for energy will increase by 85%. A stable supply of good quality water is also required to deliver low-carbon solutions, and is a deal-breaker for countries where hydroelectricity represents a significant portion of the energy mix. The materiality of water is clear, and there is an urgent call to business to manage water wisely so as to ensure business continuity, provide societal access and protect vital ecosystems for future generations.
